Hope you’re well and have all had a good week?
It’s been a few weeks now since masks became compulsory in shops, and I don’t know about you, but my skin has not been happy about it!
After a few days of mask-wearing, I had the mother of all breakouts and I’ve been struggling to get on top of it since – as well as having to deal with hormones, work stress, and all the other lovely spot-causing factors.
However, there are a few products which have really been helping to save the day, so I thought I’d put them in the spotlight this week, in case you’re experiencing similar troubles.
Now, without further ado, here’s this week’s “Save, Spend, Splurge”.
ESPA Bergamot & Jasmine No Rinse Hand Cleanser
Where to buy: Lookfantastic
Anyone that’s had problems with their skin in the past will know that the number one rule is to NEVER touch your face – and when you have to, make sure it’s with clean hands…
…And that’s where this gorgeous cleanser comes in!
Hand sanitiser/cleansers have pretty much become a staple in all of our bags/cars etc lately, right?! But this is a really luxurious version, at a bargain price for an ESPA product, in my opinion.
Unlike many other competitor brands, this cleanser doesn’t dry out your hands at all, and in fact, has left mine feeling pretty soft.
It dries super quickly, and doesn’t leave a sticky residue either – who knew 2020 would see us being so particular about hand cleansers?!
On top of this, the smell is DIVINE, giving you those spa-vibes from the comfort of your home/car/office/wherever you keep your cleanser.
I purchase my ESPA products from Lookfantastic, who always have some fab discounts and free gifts, so it’s worth checking out their website to see if you can bag yourself a real bargain this week.
Vinopure Blemish Control Infusion Serum
Where to buy: Space NK
If you listen to the House21 podcast, you’ll have heard me say that this is my must-have product – so no surprise it’s my “Spend” product this week.
I’ve actually been using this for a little while, but since ‘maskne’ (mask-acne) has become a thing, I’ve benefitted from it more than ever.
Caudalie’s blemish control serum is lightweight, naturally derived, and an all-round wonder product.
It contains salicylic acid, which according to the skincare scientists helps to unclog your pores. I find it really helps to dry out any big, painful spots without causing any actual dryness to your skin.
I pop it on before I go to bed (after cleansing/toning, but before moisturising) and I always wake up to find a huge reduction to the Mount Everest that’s invaded my face…
In terms of where to buy, you can source Caudalie products from a number of retailers, but I tend to use Space NK as they have a really good loyalty card system, meaning you can use your accumulated points to save some pennies on your purchases.
ESPA Hydrating Cleansing Milk/Optimal Skin Pro-Cleanser/Hydrating Floral Spa-Fresh Tonic bundle
Price: £95 (combined price)
Where to buy: Lookfantastic
So I’m breaking the rules a little this week as my “Splurge” isn’t just one product (and technically it’s just under £100), but to get the best results I really recommend splurging and buying all three of these products to use together.
To tackle my “maskne” head on, I always start with a double cleanse, using the cleansing milk first, followed by the Pro-Cleanser.
The Pro-Cleanser actually doubles up as a mask and is formulated with little jojoba spheres that exfoliate the skin and melt away as you massage it in.
I’m trying really hard to get back into some kind of normal, following the upheaval of the past few months, and having this 15 minute routine before bed really helps me to unwind and relax.
(I purchased the Pro-Cleanser in the supersize version as this actually works out to be much more cost-effective).
I finish off with the Spa-Fresh Tonic just to refresh my skin and close the pores, before applying moisturiser.
Again, and as with all ESPA products, the smell is heavenly!
These three products have quickly become staples on my dressing table and I’ve already noticed such an improvement to both the texture of my skin and the dreaded “maskne”!
