Whether you’re a winged eyeline or a smokey eye kind of girl getting the right nude lipstick is key. And if there is one item everybody needs in their makeup bag girls;
This is it.
It can be one of the hardest products to find, along with the perfect shade foundation and the blackest mascara, but once you find it you will never look back.
So, whether you’re looking for a pinky toned nude or a darker look I got your back because let’s face it I have tried them all, on my last count I had over 30 different nude lipsticks.
Here are a few of my favourites:
Velvet Teddy – MAC Cosmetics
Forever my favourite and always my go to whatever the occasion. Matte with a deep tone beige this is one of MAC’s most iconic shades made famous by Kylie Jenner, long before she had her own lip range. Creamy with some good long-lasting staying power this wearable shade suits all skin tones.
Pillow Talk – Charlotte Tilbury
Another classic lipstick that never seems to go out of fashion. With more of a pinky nude tone this is the perfect natural day look to make your lips appear plumper and fuller.
Powermatte lip pigment in Get it on – NARS
Smudge proof and easy to apply this liquid lipstick dries to a matte finish and literally does not budge from your lips for hours. Ideal if you’re of an olive complexion as this has a browner undertone.
Toast – Primark
I am obsessed with this lipstick, an absolute bargain at less than £2, the colour is one of the most wearable shades I have in my makeup kit. With a Lustre feel to it, its not too drying for the lips and although it may not have the staying power of some of the more expensive ones, for the price you can top this up as much as you like.
Whichever nude lipstick you try there are always two key things to remember.
Firstly, always compliment your lipstick with a nude lip liner as this helps to lock in the colour and keep your pout exactly where it needs to be all day.
Some of my favourites are Barry M and Mac Cosmetics.
Secondly, if your lips are dry wearing a nude lipstick will flag this more than a colour, so give your lips a good exfoliate with a designated lip scrub before you apply.
Again, Barry M do a great lip scrub as well as The Body Shop.
