Working full time, trying to get in shape and maintaining an active social life takes a toll on the body, especially when you are in your mid 30’s like me. When Patchology sent me some Rejuvenating Eye Gels to try out, I was thrilled.
Over the last few years, the wrinkles have started to appear, under my eye has become darker and puffier. I have tried similar patches over the lasts few years. They seem to work for half an hour or so, but with no long-term effects. I appreciate that it is not going to be permanent. Still, if a product can make an impact for a few days, then it would be ideal for including into your skincare routine.
ABOUT PATCHOLOGY REJUVENATING EYE GELS
They are labelled as the ‘anytime perk-me-up’ and are for puffiness, fatigue and dryness. The ‘fast fix’ uses caffeine and hydrolysed collagen to improve hydration and elasticity to give you a ‘you just woke up like this’ look.
HOW TO APPLY PATCHOLOGY EYE PATCHES
Open the packet and remove the gels. You will need to open the lid of the round plastic container and remove the backing paper from the gel patch. The patch can then be placed under your eye, on the ‘bag’ area. Your skin should be clean and dry. Wear the gel patch for 5-minutes or longer if you like. Once you have finished, remove the gel pad and massage any remaining serum into your skin. Ideally, you should do this with your second finger in soft circular motions to avoid damaging the skin’s surface – as you would with your moisturiser, make-up, etc.
HOW TO WEAR PATCHOLOGY EYE GELS
This is not clear on the packaging; however, the tail should be put in the corner of your eye next to your nose and the larger side of the patch on the outside of your eye near your temple. You should avoid putting it too close, and if you do get any gel in your eye, rinse out with cool water.
HOW TO USE PATCHOLOGY EYE GEL
There is no guide on how often you should use the Patchology Eye Gels, but they are safe to be used daily.
ARE PATCHOLOGY EYE GELS IDEAL FOR CONTACT LENS WEARERS?
Yes, they are safe to use. The gels are ophthalmologist tested and safe for contact lens wearers.
ARE PATCHOLOGY EYE GELS CRUELTY-FREE?
Patchology is a cruelty-free brand. Patchology does not test any of their products or ingredients on animals.
IS PATCHOLOGY GLUTEN-FREE?
Can Patchology products be used by people with gluten sensitivity or celiac disease? SkinSAFE reviewed the ingredients of Patchology Eye Gels and found it to be 91% Top Allergen Free and free of Gluten, Coconut, Nickel, Top Common Allergy Causing Preservatives, Lanolin, MCI/MI, Topical Antibiotic, Soy, and Propylene Glycol.
ARE PATCHOLOGY EYE GELS NATURAL?
I could not find an answer to this, but judging by the list of ingredients then I would say, no they are not. If you can not understand what an element is, then generally it is not natural, and some of the list say synthetic. However, it does contain one of my favourite ‘top name’ ingredients call Snail Secretion Filtrate or Snail Slime. It is packed with nutrients such as hyaluronic acid, glycoprotein, proteoglycans, and antimicrobial and copper peptides, all of which are commonly used in beauty products and proven to be beneficial for the skin.
IS PATCHOLOGY VEGAN?
Unfortunately, Patchology Rejuvenating Eye Gels are not vegan. However, the brand do have a lot of products that are. Logical Harmony has put the vegan-friendly products into a list.
WHO ARE PATCHOLOGY?
I have to be honest, I had not heard of the brand before, but have discovered that their products are popular all over the world. They were founded over 10 years ago by Chris Hobson in the United States aimed at the busy woman who wants her beauty products to do more, work faster and deliver better results.
Other products include Poshpeel Pedi Cure, Clean AF Facial Cleansing Wipes, Flashpatch Hydrating Lip Gels and Perfect Ten Self-Warming Hand and Cuticle Mask.
MY REVIEW OF PATCHOLOGY REJUVENATING EYE GEL PATCHES
I wore my patches while cleaning the kitchen, so around 45-minutes. They stayed put and did not move, and after a very short amount of time, I forgot that I was wearing them. I liked the cooling effect they had when placed on the eye, which was comforting.
When I did remove them, I could feel that my skin was tighter, and for the rest of the day, my under-eyes looked brighter. The puffiness had been reduced, and the dark circles had been diminished slightly. What I did not expect from the day gels, though, was that they immediately changed the look of my wrinkles.
I would not use one every day but it would be good to keep them at hand, especially after a long night or stressful week. They would be ideal for wearing before getting ready for a big event or a night out.
MY PATCHOLOGY BEFORE AND AFTER
When I looked at what others had done in their before and after photographs, I was disappointed to see a face full of make-up under the eye gel patch. So here is my real-life perspective:
