There is nothing better than a cozy romantic weekend with your other half over the autumn months. With or without restrictions, there are so many things you can do to make the most of your weekend when the weather is a little chillier than those imperfect British summer months.
Find an Arboretum nearby or a drive away
There is nothing more beautiful than the color of autumn painted on the leaves of trees. Grab a coffee, maybe a flask full and some snacks, chuck on your coziest coat and scarf, and head on out for a long, satisfying walk. Why not stop at a local café afterward to warm up and relax.
Treat yourself to a meal out
Book yourself a pub lunch or dinner, whether it be a juicy burger or a Sunday lunch – having a dining experience together means that neither of you has to cook, and instead you can spend more quality time together. I find this “date” experience always the best when trying to fit in some couple time together.
Book a cottage or a shepherd’s hut
The coziest of accommodations to make your getaway the most romantic. Hopefully, you can find somewhere which has a big chunky sofa, a fire, a huge tub, and big mugs for hot chocolate. Make sure you pack a blanket and hot chocolate in case they don’t provide these!
Accommodation is personal to you so if you prefer added luxury then splash out and book that hotel you’ve had your eyes on forever! Maybe you’d prefer renting a caravan or treehouse, the options are limitless.
Games, games, games!
Whether you are at home, in a cottage, or at the pub – get in your favorite games! Whenever I go away, I always have with me Uno, Bananagrams, or a board game which we get stuck into, and is always a bit of fun. If we have a weekend at home, we often do the same or get out a puzzle to switch off – a few drinks and snacks to accompany never go amiss either.
Spend your evening in candlelight
No matter where you are, at home, or away – make sure you have candles. Whether or not you are into candles, it will guarantee romance and tranquility. Cuddles up somewhere comfy, make sure you have a nice warm drink, dessert, or treats and stick on a film of choice you can both enjoy.
Find something which is going on locally
Most towns and cities have their own tourist website or notification group on social media. If you are going away for the weekend or having a staycation, why not do a little research and see if there is anything going on nearby? The colder months bring great light festivals and outdoor snug pods, who knows what’ll be happening?!
Do something you usually wouldn’t
Why not spice things up a little and do something as a couple you wouldn’t usually? Take a trip on a steam train, dress up to go out of a fine dining experience, have a bath or shower together, maybe take a walk, or have a games night. Weekends are the best time for exploring new things which you never know you may love doing as a couple and continue to do so forevermore.
Whatever you end up doing, and whatever your budget, make sure to appreciate the time you have together – weekends are precious as are our loved ones. Please comment with any of your ideas on how you’d spend your perfect weekend with your loved one.
