Camp NaNoWriMo, has been one of the hardest things that I have ever done, yet it was one of the valuable and rewarding experiences. From this I have learned discipline as I had to write every single day as well as how to push on with a task even if I’m not feeling inspired. All of this allowed me to develop as a person and as a writer. I would highly recommend this process to any inspiring or published writer as you learn so much and it’s nice to have a community around you supporting the writing process.
Week three was a bit of a roller coaster as it went from very good areas of writing to times where I could barely write a page. This is where the live streams that authortuber’s and NaNoWriMo do came in handy, as it helps to push you on in timed bursts which boosts your productivity. These were also at the times where the need to push through was most needed as well as the need for support and an audience as the prompts that they set can help you get started for the day and add depth to the characters. Unfortunately at this point I had to change my goal from 310 pages by the end of July to 100 as I knew I could not catch up with that goal, so I still made it ambitious for where I was at with the page count. This was still one of my better weeks out of the whole month.
Week four and the final week was okay yet productive. The heat did not help as it was so hard to concentrate in it. Also this being the last week meant that it was very rushed, as I was just trying to get as much as I could into this week and my goal was being met very slowly. Pressure was on as I knew I would need to put in a lot of hours in order to reach the 100 pages goal by the end of the week yet some how I managed to complete it within the 31 days with additional bonus pages. This is the most that I have written in any of my recent projects and I am really happy with it. So with everything I have learnt from this I will finish off my book over the next few months and then the hard part (editing) begins.
This has truly been one of the most valuable challenges that I have done. I would highly recommend doing either Camp NaNoWriMo or just the ordinary NaNo to anyone who likes to write or to create using words. I loved the community feel that this gave you along with the streams cheering you on. I will greatly miss this challenge and I can’t wait until November for the next one. Thank you for coming along this journey with me.
