This book took seven years of of painstaking research to compile. If you love reading academic biographies of Vincent van Gogh, this book is for you! The author inserts herself into the story, detailing her meticulous search through dusty archives and her genealogical research to learn about the families who touched on the artist’s life in Arles. She also interprets and analyses his paintings, especially how they reflected his surroundings, friendships and mental health at the time that they were painted.
Everybody knows a few things about Vincent van Gogh’s life. But through this book, you’ll come to know a lot more. If you love van Gogh and want to know more about his life and his illness, you should read this!
