The thought of freezing your nips off by heading out for a run on a dark, cold morning doesn’t appeal to you? I get you. The last thing we want is to go out for a run in the deep freeze that is winter and freeze our buns off. The thought of sitting in a warm, cosy house appeals massively more than venturing outside to exercise or head to the gym.
However, there’s no need to get into a cold sweat when it comes to exercising during the colder months. You can still achieve and carry out the same exercise routine that you implemented in the Summer, it just takes a lot of motivation and also a few thermals.
One thing that really helps me to stay motivated to exercise is buying the new fitness clothing. Buying new clothes isn’t hard, Primark for example, always do some pretty good fitness clothing. It’s hard not to take your new trainers out for a debut spin around the block or show off your new clothes at the gym.
Another way to stay motivated is to make a plan and stick to it. However, that is definitely easier said than done. But who knows, scheduling your workouts and making fitness targets for yourselves may just help spur you on to get out your trainers and go on a run.
But who says you have to go outside to exercise? There’s this thing called YouTube where you can find all kinds of workout videos to do from the comfort of your own living room. Plus no gym journey means an extra half hour in bed. Bliss.
Or if you’re somebody who would rather get out there and head to the gym in the dark, then book a fitness class, the way to think of it is that all other gym goers are in the same position as you, they’re cold and need to find the motivation to workout and have booked a class as their last hope of doing that. Plus the cancellation fee instilled into the booking may make you just a tiny bit more determined to turn up!
So when your done with your workout sesh, treat yourself to a hot chocolate and a film and just chill with the knowledge that you have kept to your promise of exercising.
Hopefully this post has motivated you to grab your trainers and get your squat on!
