As we all know by now, I am not a lover of the structured New year’s resolutions that we see everywhere as soon as it hits January 1st.
However, I do like to take this time to think and reflect on the things I do want to happen within the next 12 months.
So, what I have decided to do is create my own online Vision board.
Vision or mood boards are nothing new, I’m sure if you haven’t done one of these recently you will at least know what they are. A vision board is a type of visual presentation or a collage of images, text and objects in a composition.
Some people like to do a physical vision board and cut out the images, so they have it there in front of them, others like to use Pinterest (which is what I have done in the past). However, this time I had a look online and found an app called ‘Plotboard’ and spent my new years eve filling this in with images of what I want to achieve not only in the next 12 months but what I want to achieve in my life.
It can feel a little hard to start with, at first, I didn’t know what to go with but once I started thinking about the things I want and how I hope my life will look it ended up being really easy and fun.
I grew up creating vision boards and would often rip out things I liked in magazines and added them to a sketchbook, whether it be clothes I liked, makeup looks I loved etc, I found it therapeutic to do.
Over the past few years vision boards have become more and more popular with those who are interested in manifesting their visions and dreams. And what I love about this is it gives me total clarity and focus on the life I want to live. I have only started to get into manifesting in the last 3 months so I am still very much a newbie, however I do love the effect it has on me.
Manifesting is teaching me to focus my attention on the things I want and need in my future and it helps me to stay motivated to achieve these goals whatever they may be.
I find a vision board much more powerful than just writing things down, I always work better with a visual as I think you can really focus your energy into an image more so than just words.
What I love about this is there is no right or wrong, your board is unique to you and can change and evolve as much as you like, there are no rules.
Want to try one for yourself?
Set some time aside
Away from your phone or any distractions and truly think about what you want, what are the first things that come to mind when you picture your future?
Create a peaceful space
I find it easier to do this without any TV/music on as I like to enjoy the silence to really tap into my thoughts but do whatever you feel good with. Light a candle, create your space around you to suit what helps you to relax.
Think about the areas of your life
For me, I focused on the next 12 months. In an ideal world, how do I see the next 12 months and what would I like to see happen, whether that is in your relationships/career/finances.
Once you have completed your vision board, have it somewhere that is easy to access. I am planning on looking at my board every night before I go to sleep, as the key to manifesting is to trust the process and be thankful for those things as if they have already come true.
The more you see your vision board coming to life the more it hopefully will, but don’t stress having a vision board isn’t supposed to add any stress to your life.
I am looking forward to looking back at my board in 6 months to assess where I am at.
Let me know if you make one too and how you get on!
