Jeez my routine has changed a hell of a lot in the last few weeks. Not just mine, so many of us have to had to alter our normal schedule.
I’m not going to lie it’s been hard adjusting and adapting to life with everything that’s going on right now. However, it has been quite fun in a way to figure out a new routine that suits me best.
Making a new routine is all about adapting to your specific needs and to do what makes YOU happy. Just because somebody takes their bath’s in the evening, doesn’t mean you have to too. Some people choose to wake up at 6am, some choose to stay in bed and get up when they feel ready to.
All of our routines, daily schedules, strict regimen’s, whatever you want to call it, are all unique and individual to us. You may pick up ideas you may want to fit into your plan of the day from others and that’s fine. You may like it and when things (eventually) return to normal, you may be surprised by how much of your new routine you’ll incorporate into your old routine.
Ok, here’s my current routine in line with the new lockdown –
9:30/10pm – WAKE UP
_________________
This is usually my wake up time on the weekends. In the weekday, it’s usually a 7:30 alarm. But, in my mind, I’ve got nothing major planned for the day, I may as well catch up on some of the sleep I’ve missed over the last few years. When I wake up, I grab my first inhaler and take a couple of puffs, get changed into my workout gear and head downstairs.
10:00/11:00am – BREAKFAST / MEDS
_________________
I’ll clamber downstairs, go into my meds room aka the dining room, inject my insulin and make breakfast. Usually I end up eating a bowl of cereal as it’s quick and simple. After that, it’ll be time to do my morning meds. A cocktail of pills, physiotherapy, two nebulisers and two minutes of brushing my teeth later, it’s time to start the next part of my routine.
11:00/12:00 – EXERCISE
________________
Time to get sweaty and make my lungs work. I’m doing a variety of exercise videos right now to keep my exercise routine more varied and fun. I like mixing it up when it comes to my workouts, I’ll be writing a post soon on what my favourite workouts are right now.
12:00/2:00pm – DO SOME ODD JOBS
_________________
In these two hours, I like to tackle anything that needs to be cleaned in my house. After exercise though, I do take 10 minutes outside as that’s my only source of fresh air right now. It’s one of my favourite parts of the day at the moment. Anyway, after that 10 minute breather, I crack on with something that needs cleaning or decluttering. This is probably my most productive two hours of the day and the part of the day where I get the most satisfaction. It’s surprising how much you find to do around the house!
2:00/4:00pm – BLOGGING
_________________
This is where I dedicate two hours in front of my laptop and fully focus on blogging. I catch up on emails, comment on other blog posts, do some photography, editing, write some blog posts and plan content. I think this is when I’m at my full concentration, even my Mam can’t manage to communicate with me properly as I’m too much in the zone! During this time, I eat lunch, usually a toastie. Me and my toastie machine have become good friends during lockdown.
4:00/5:00pm – LEARN SPANISH
_________________
Time to hit Duolingo for a couple of hours of Spanish! I’ve absolutely adored learning this language and it’s a great feeling picking up a new skill! I say I do two hours, I do have a break in these two hours to let my brain reset and start again! Usually to do my afternoon physio and another nebuliser. My breaks are never simple.
5:00/11:00pm – LET’S RELAX
_________________
This is where I just chill. I have a bath, do a face mask and chill in front of the TV. This is also when I have my time away from social media. No hearing of Coronavirus for a few hours or so!
11:00pm – BEDTIME
_________________
Time to turn everything off, do my night meds, rub all my hand, face and foot creams in and read before going to sleep. I switch my phone off until the morning and settle down for the night.
I haven’t changed much of my routine as such. I have just made time for the things I enjoy. I’m learning new things, I am being more productive and I’m happily ticking all the things off my to do list!
How have you changed your routine with everything going on right now?
