I can be sure that you’re not where you thought you would be in life, or where you thought you would be by now. Because I am the same.
And I know how hard it is no to not completely discouraged by that realisation.
Everywhere you look you’re just reminded of what others are doing well, how much further ahead in life they seem to be, and how you feel you should be there too.
You feel indecisive and unsure of every move you make. You worry that if you make another mistake it will plummet you back to a place you no longer wish to visit.
You fight against yourself and the pressures you put upon yourself but that needs to stop and I’m talking to myself just as much as I am talking to you.
We live with forced expectations put onto us by other people who seemingly have their life all mapped out. But when do we ever just stop and live in the present?
Here are a few things to remind you that right now you are exactly where you should be:
Stop living your life based on other people
This is key. Social media is the worst for this, but remember people only post the parts of their life that they want you to see. No one is posting their failures.
You can re set your life as many times as you like. You are the author of your own story. Reset, recharge, re direct your life as many times as you need to.
Don’t assume there is anything wrong with you just because you are not like others. Because really, what is ‘right’ and ‘normal’ for one person may not always be what is right for you.
Your past and your failures do not define you. Didn’t go to university? Lost your job? Made bad choices? They do not define you. And if anyone judges you on something you have done in the past then that is their problem, not yours. No one is perfect and neither are you.
Don’t disregard the life you are living right now. If you’re getting up every day, going to work, exercising or anything vaguely productive then you are succeeding in life. Feel proud of yourself and be grateful for your life in the here and now.
Life can be difficult and complex. Don’t ever let this put you off or stop you from doing things you want to do. Okay so you may not get there as quickly or as easily as you would like, but you will, when the time is right.
“What is meant for you won’t pass you by.” This is my life motto. What is meant for me and my life will never pass me, but will come to me at the right time. When I am strong enough to handle it and brave enough to live how I should be.
And if you take just one thing from this post, let it be this: Others are where they are meant to be, and you are where you are meant to be. Whether people are in front of you or behind you that doesn’t matter. What matters most is you live your life for you and the best life possible.
