It’s that time of year again – it’s time to watch a group of celebrities eat kangaroo genitals, clean the dunny and sit around a campfire moaning about the food they’re eating. Yes, I’m A Celebrity – Get Me Outta Here is back!
Now, I am somebody who literally cannot wait for it return to our screens year in, year out. Seeing celebrities go through all the trials and tribulations the jungle can bring, or what Ant and Dec tell them to do, is pure TV gold for me. From the hilarious but sometimes terrifying Bushtucker Trials to Celebrity Cyclone to watching celebrities walk over that bridge with fireworks when they get voted out.
Obviously, Ant and Dec make the show what it is. They’re so hilarious and they really do make the show pure quality with their sense of humour and sometimes taking the mickey out of the celebs.
It’s been on our screens for quite a number of years now, I think since 2002, and has become a winter TV staple in that time. I have seen a number of people say that it’s passed it’s sell by date and it’s very monotonous. I have to disagree, purely because the show barely doesn’t cause too much controversy, doesn’t cause too much scandal and is just entertaining. Every year there’s a different group of celebrities, which means there’s always a new vibe and new personalities to acquaint with.
Also people say that there is a sense of animal cruelty involved. I can see their point, obviously there are lot of snakes, bugs, crocodiles, eels, rats and sometimes birds included in the trials. I think that the producers of the show wouldn’t put any harm to any animal who were in the trials, however, maybe there may come a point where they may have to rethink the plan of trials and maybe adapt them a bit more.
All in all, I’m really looking forward to this years series, I don’t have a clue who half of the contestants are but it doesn’t matter! I’ll still enjoy just as much as I do on a yearly basis!
