The start of 2020 feels like a million lightyears ago. We’ve been in lockdown for what feels like a lifetime and I think it is safe to say that we’re all desperate to get back to normality and live normally again.
But – us wanting to leave the house and do whatever we please may not be the best idea right now. With talks of gradually leaving lockdown in phases taking place in Downing Street, it’s made me realise that leaving lockdown too early is making me scared.
As somebody who is high risk/vulnerable to the virus, I want us to leave lockdown when the time is absolutely right. I don’t want us to leave lockdown too early, the numbers of deaths pick up again and then we’re back to square one. Nah, I don’t think any of us fancy that surely?!
I’ve been thinking about life post lockdown and what it could potentially be like. Obviously things aren’t going to be the same for a hell of a long time yet. It’s pretty nailed on that social distancing measures will be still be in place when lockdown starts easing.
I won’t lie – I’m feeling scared about the prospect of venturing outside again. I’m allowed to sit in my back garden for the time being and maybe go somewhere very quiet for an hours exercise (but there’s nothing like that near where I live) . I’ve just got a horrible feeling that when the time comes that we can go outside properly again, I’m not going to want to. I’ve been so scared of the fact that the government have basically said that if you’re high risk and you get Coronavirus, you’re going to peg it, that I’ve been afraid to even step foot outside.
For the love of god I don’t want to become a recluse or a hermit when lockdown ends. I’ve missed going outside terribly. I’ve missed work. I’ve missed my friends and family. I’ve even missed just going for a drive in my car. Like myself, we’re all desperate to get out of the house and stop watching afternoon TV and cleaning. However, the government have got time this easing of lockdown absolutely bang on. If they don’t, we could end up back to where we started all those weeks ago. That is something we DEFINITELY don’t want.
