During this period, it is very easy for all of us to feel stuck in this bubble away from the glamour and happiness one can get from commenting on a red-carpet event. I don’t know about you, but I love gossiping around with my friends on the amazing and most disastrous looks of a good old-fashioned red-carpet event.
Timeless pieces and daring choices, the most expensive dresses and shocking man outfits – it’s clear that any red carpet event is a great opportunity for celebs to showcase their taste. It is indeed very endearing to see their growth from one year to another or even from one event to another. Of course, most times the glam arises from the hands of very talented stylists and designers whose dream is to have their creation worn by an icon. Some may call it history writing just like stories or poetry – a form of expression so pure and continuously changing carrying within so much drama and heartbreak used by newspapers to feed hungry souls like mine. It’s simply a form of art!
With most upcoming events cancelled for the forthcoming, everyone is fighting to keep the creative spirit up. Fashion cannot fade away even if the world stops moving – something of a ‘show must go on’ perspective, if you’d like.
For us, day-to-day readers of fashion magazines, this is the perfect moment to relieve the 10 best celebrity red carpet looks of 2019.
1. Jennifer Lopez at MET Gala
If you had to ask someone to appear on this annual invitation-only red carpet extravaganza event dripping in crystals from head to toe, no one would wear it better than J-Lo did at MET Gala in New York. And who could possibly create such a piece? Versace, of course. Breathtaking.
Quick question – check Celine Dion’s Oscar de la Renta appearance at the same MET Gala and tell me who wore it better.
2. Miley Cyrus at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards
Seeing Miley rocking the classic black suit with a twist it’s filling my heart with joy. She is absolutely stunning in this Mugler outfit and wearing Loree Rodkin jewellery at the Grammys in California. No more Hannah Montana days for her – you can clearly see the immense growth this wonderful woman has been through.
For a little bonus – see her outfit at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party wearing Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello. You’ll thank me later.
3. Priyanka Chopra at the Cannes Film Festival screening of Les Plus Belles Annes D’Une Vie
There is so much feminism, sexiness and power in this outfit. Priyanka looks like she is ready to climb the Everest whilst drinking ten martini on heels. Would you have guessed it is in fact a bridal gown? I find it to be a statement of the continuous honeymoon phase following her wedding with Nick Jonas and I love it.
4. Dua Lipa at the MTV European Music Awards
I kid you not, but this outfit gives me Lara Croft in Tomb Rider vibes.
5. Zendaya at ELLE’s 26th Annual Woman in Hollywood Celebration
In my biased opinion, this outfit ticks off all boxes for Zendaya’s personality, complexity and age. The proportions, the colours and the way this Peter Do look embrace her body are stunning. Oh, and did you see that waist? Girls, that’s how you do it.
6. Billy Porter at the MET Gala
Two words: why not? Billy’s tribute to Diana Ross’ Ancient Egypt-inspired look wearing The Bonds will remain forever in our memory. He is my guilty pleasure.
7. Samuel L. Jackson at the Oscars
Elegance never looked better.
8. Zac Efron at the premiere for Extremely, Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile
I must say that I may still have a little cringy High School Musical thing going on inside my tummy when I see Zac. Regardless of this, that bright fresh mustard tie is here to stay. Adding some colour to the tailored shape of such an outfit is simply making it stand out. Can we encourage all our partners to follow Zac’s example?
9. Rami Malek at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards
Lady in red is long gone. Ladies and gentlemen, I present you the Malek in red wearing a Berlutit suit with a classic white shirt and black Christian Louboutin leather shoes.
10. Dax Shepherd and Kristen Bell at the Golden Globes Awards
Simply put – couple goals.
