Hope you’re well and have all had a good week?
I don’t know about you, but it feels like this year has just disappeared before my eyes, and I can’t quite believe we’re now in September.
Last week I spoke about shopping more sustainably, and you may or may not be aware, but the beginning of this month marks the onset of Oxfam’s initiative, “Second Hand September”.
According to Oxfam, the “throwaway fashion” culture means that a whopping 13 million items of clothing end up in landfill every week, so this initiative aims to encourage second-hand spending only for 30 days in a bid to reduce this.
So instead of talking about my latest purchases, this week I thought it would be fun to highlight some of the places you can save, spend and splurge on second hand or pre-loved items to help do your bit towards a more sustainable planet.
Now, without further ado, here’s this week’s “Save, Spend, Splurge”.
As the hosts of Second Hand September, it’s only right to give Oxfam a mention this week!
In addition to the hundreds of high street shops, Oxfam also have a brilliant online shop with over 4,000 items currently under the £10 “Save” spending cap.
Brands include everything from M&S to French Connection, so you could nab yourself a real bargain this month.
Money from purchases goes towards a number of issues that the charity works on including water; health; education; women’s empowerment; access to work and equality – so what a fab opportunity to give back on your spending this month.
Here’s a link to the shop finder: https://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/shop-finder or if you do prefer to shop from the comfort of your own home, you can use the discount code SECONDHAND14 to get 14% off of Oxfam’s online shop.

They do have a showroom in Copenhagen, if you happen to be in the area, but if you’re looking for a treat/investment piece – why not go for pre-loved?!
