When I first saw the wall of slip dresses in Topshop I just ignored them. A single piece of fabric? Not for me. I need something to hide the fact that I don’t have a gym membership, not enhance it. The thought of stepping out in something so naked was an instant no as I couldn’t imagine that being flattering in any way.
Despite this, I’m easily swayed by trends and after seeing a few cool versions I went back to try one on. So glad I did. It gave me a flashback to Carrie’s first date with Mr Big in her outrageous, skin coloured slip dress. Deemed her ‘naked dress’ and the epitome of confidence thanks to the fact that there’s nothing to hide behind. I was instantly converted and even without a date planned, I still bought it.
I think this will be a timeless piece of clothing in my wardrobe too. Sure it’s gorgeous on its own but imagine layering it with a baggy knitted jumper and boots in the winter or under a blazer, with loafers or a trainer for work. Beyond amazing. I’m so glad I picked this up and I honestly couldn’t encourage you more to get one. Viva la naked dress!
